Extended Health Benefits for Chiropractic in Squamish
Receipts provided for all services · ICBC & WSBC direct billing accepted
Using Your Extended Health Benefits
Most group extended health benefit plans in British Columbia include chiropractic coverage — typically $300–$1,000 per year depending on your plan. At Tantalus Chiropractic & Wellness, Dr. Heather Johnston provides receipts that can be submitted to your benefits provider.
If your employer provides extended health benefits through Sun Life, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Manulife, Greenshield, or another carrier, you are likely covered for chiropractic care. Many employers also offer Health Spending Accounts (HSAs) that can be used for chiropractic.
We recommend checking your specific plan details before your first appointment — your HR department, your benefits portal, or a call to your insurer can confirm your coverage limit and annual reset date.
What Your Benefits Can Cover
Initial Assessment
Your first visit includes a comprehensive assessment and often begins treatment. This visit is typically eligible for extended health coverage.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Manual spinal and extremity adjustments are covered under virtually all chiropractic benefit plans.
Soft Tissue Therapy
Myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and other manual techniques performed by your chiropractor are typically included in chiropractic coverage.
Spinal Decompression
Coverage for decompression therapy varies by plan. We provide detailed receipts for your submission.
Exercise Rehabilitation
Exercise prescription and supervised rehabilitation guidance from your chiropractor is generally covered as part of the chiropractic visit.
Virtual Consultations
Many extended health plans now cover telehealth chiropractic visits. Check with your insurer to confirm your plan includes virtual care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you do direct billing?
We do not offer direct billing for extended health plans. We provide official receipts for all services which you can submit to your extended health insurer for reimbursement. ICBC and WSBC claims are direct billed.
What if I have a deductible?
If your plan has a deductible, you will pay the deductible amount before coverage kicks in. We provide itemized receipts so you can track your deductible progress.
When do benefits reset?
Most plans reset on January 1. Some reset on your employer’s fiscal year or policy anniversary date. Check your plan documents or benefits portal.
Can I use an HSA for chiropractic?
Yes — Health Spending Accounts are very flexible and can be used for chiropractic care. Keep your receipts and submit to your HSA administrator.
